Tried It Tuesday #4: Go Nuts (Giveaway), Superfoods + A Beach Solution

As a blogger who loves trying new things and sharing the best, I get LOTS of awesome things to try. Truth be told, I have become a bit behind in sharing some of my great finds. I am going to do mini-reviews, and previews, here and tell you about opportunities for you to try these awesome things, too! I was traveling this weekend, so Finds’ friend, Amanda weighed in on a few new items this week for me and I added my two-cents. Lauren and I also tested one in Miami.

The giveaway has ended! Winners are #6 Shannon and #70 Helga. Yumbutter Go! will be available at stores near you in May 2014!  Yumbutter “Go” Organic Nut Butters (not yet available for sale – but I have some to share!)

Amanda says:

“After seeing the “buy one, feed a child in need” logo on the packaging, I looked up the Yumbutter. It is run by two young entrepreneurs who are focused on making really good, healthy, sustainable food, environmental issues, and helping malnourished children. I am in love. Immediately sent the website out to friends and family, as I do when I get really excited about a cause that is combined with a good product. More on the latter…. I absolutely love the pouch. It is perfect to stick in my lunch bag so I can add my favorite food to everything at work without the mess of trying to get natural butter into Tupperware and the inevitable ensuing leakage. I wonder if they make this in sizes that meet airline liquid requirements? This would be a great healthy airplane snack.

  • Superfood Peanut Butter – The peanut butter is good (tastes like natural peanut butter with only peanuts despite the added ingredients) and the chia seeds give it an extra, enjoyable kick. I have been eating with my fruit all week.
  • Superfood Almond Butter – tastes like almond butter! I was almost hoping for a touch more flavor since the chia seeds added a nice kick to the peanut butter, but alas, almonds may just be too bland/strong of a flavor for a jolt.”

I supported Yumbutter’s Kickstarter campaign for the Yumbutter “Go” and have been sharing my perks with my friends. I like both the peanut butter and almond butter, the added nutrients (from chia, hemp seeds and goji berries), the convenient packaging and the company. So many good things! Check out Yumbutter here, on Twitter or Facebook! Great news, I am going to giveaway some of my perks packs! I will giveaway one pouch of almond butter and one pouch of peanut butter here and another set on my Facebook page for my 2 year Blogiversary soon! Want to win one of these 7 oz. pouches?

Greens + Vegan Superfood Wild Berry Greens Powder   greens pus CollageAmanda says:

“Green drinks have never been that appealing to me, however, after falling in love with the Greens + Vegan Crisp Snack Bars, I thought I’d give this a superfood powder a go. I added it to about 10-12ozs of water even though the directions said just 8 oz. It was sweet, but not overly so, and apparently had lots of good-for-me ingredients, although to be honest, I hadn’t heard of most of these them. I am feeling super energized this evening and ready for the evening of work ahead – perhaps this drink had something to do with it? Only one way to find out.”

I shared the Greens + Vegan Crisp Snack Bars and Greens + Vegan Superfood Wild Berry Greens Powder with Amanda.  Like Amanda, I loved the bars and don’t always use supplement powders. The packets have only 30 calories and are vegan, non-gmo, soy/dairy and gluten free. It has less than one gram of sugar and no caffeine. It is an blend of RAW green foods, superfruits, sea vegetables, probiotics and acai. They say, “One serving delivers more vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants than 5 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables while supplying every color in the Dietary Food Spectrum. With a high-ORAC* superfruit blend that includes 800mg of Sambazon Acai, Greens Plus Organic Superfood Wild Berry helps to promote: higher energy levels, body detoxification, healthy aging and immune function.” I found that it is pretty tasty and filling. I  like this and can see adding this to my morning water. I was sent some one serving packets which are great for traveling, too. I felt more alert after drinking this, too. I will see if that is consistent.

Great news, the folks at Greens + will offer a giveaway here in the next few weeks for both Greens + Vegan Crisp Snack Bars and Greens + Vegan Superfood Wild Berry Greens Powder. Keep an eye out for a full review and giveaway. In the mean time, you can follow Greens + on Facebook or Twitter.

Grand Trunk Multi Purpose Parasheet I had the opportunity to test out a beach sheet from Grand Trunk, an awesome outdoors company.  Grand Trunk, formerly The Travel Hammock, was established in early 2002 after two adventurous entrepreneurs met while backpacking in Thailand. This company makes high quality products and backs them with a full money back satisfaction guarantee.

Lauren and I hit the beach with the Parasheet in Miami. It is a large sheet made out of a colorful parachute material which is connected to the pouch it is held in. The corners have open pockets where you can put sand (or other weights if you are not on the beach). This kept the blanket down even in the windy spot we were in. The material dries very quickly, too. When it came time to fold it up, I was a bit worried that we would never get it folded correctly. I was so wrong. In less than a minute, we shook off the sand, packed it up and packed it away. The Parasheet is machine-washable, air-dries quickly, plus it’s mildew-resistant. The retail cost is $39.99, but I saw some deals online, too! They also have a single (towel sized) version ($29.99 retail) that would be perfect for stowing in your backpack!

The Parasheet would be great for parks, camping and any beach activities. Lauren is a big outdoors person, so she was really excited to take it to try it out in many more spots! She’ll keep us posted! You can learn more about Grand Trunk here, on Facebook or Twitter. Disclosure of Material Connection: I received the Multi Purpose Parasheet for free from Grand Trunk as coordinated by Deep Creek Public Relations in consideration for review publication. I was not compensated for this review.

That’s all for now! Have you tried anything new lately? Please note: I received the Greens + and Grand Trunk products for free in exchange for the reviews. I was not compensated for this post and all opinions are my own or those of my reviewers. I received the Yumbutter Go packs as a perk for supporting their Kickstarter campaign. PS. Don’t forget about my 13.1 Chicago Half Marathon giveaway,  Chia Chargers/Chia Moxie giveaway and my NoGii Paleo Bars giveaway, too!
