It Takes 21 Days To Change a Habit – 22 Days Can Help! (Giveaway)

22DaysLogoTwit

I was invited to take a 22 Days online challenge a while back and I did. I also tried their energy bars and wanted to tell you about this cool company and their awesome products.

The company’s founder, Marcos Borges is a vegan and world -renowned exercise physiologist. He was “always in search of the perfect nutrition for optimum wellness.” He found the market was limted for nutrition-packed vegan options for people “who are trying to transform their lives, bodies and habits.”

22 Days reports that, “Psychologists have discovered that it takes 21 days to make or break a habit.” They applied this principal to helping people live a healthier, more energetic and productive life and created the 22Days Challenge. Their goal is “to help everyone get to the 22nd Day- and achieve a major breakthrough.”

22 Days nutritional products inspire through taste, attitude, and a global conscience. The belief is that foods made of the best ingredients should satisfy not only the body, but also the spirit. They believe that “the right attitude and approach to healthy living can positively affect the world.” They even have a manifesto!

They not only have a manifesto. They also have an awesome blog! Here is a tiny sample:

Blueberries for Better Brains

We all know that the more colorful the fruit or vegetable the higher the concentration of antioxidants, but there’s so much more to learn about the associated benefits. It turns out that blueberries and grapes owe their dark color to anthocyanins, powerful antioxidants that can help improve learning and recall, as well as improving short-term memory loss. Lost your keys? Try some blueberries!”

22 Days bars are USDA Organic, Non-GMO, Gluten-free, dairy-free and plant-based; many flavors are vegan. They are also delicious.

22 Days Nutrition bars come in 8 flavors:

  • Cherry Chocolate Bliss – I tried this one with Laima when I was working at the Shamrock Shuffle expo with Zooma Chicago Half Marathon. We both loved the natural sweetness of the cherries and how it balanced with the dark chocolate. It was the perfect snack to take the edge off of our hunger. This is one of my favorite combinations and one of the best tasting all natural bars with this combination I have had.
  • Fruit Nut Karma – This bar reminds me of Larabars or other similar fruit and nut bars because the first ingredient is dates. This bar is sweet and tastes very natural. It has a great combination of dried fruit and nuts.
  • Pineapple Chocolate Chip Wonder – I am not always a dried pineapple fan, but I really enjoyed this bar. The balance of the natural sweetness of the pineapple and the dark chocolate was perfect. I am surprised that this was one of my favorites of the 22 Days bars I tried. I will definitely be getting this one again!
  • Goji Mate Firecracker – Laima and I shared this one, as well. You can taste the cashew, coconut and goji berries in this bar. The Yerba Mate gives the bar an interesting flavor and taste. We both were pleasantly surprised with the taste of this bar. I had never tried this combination and I liked it! This bar is not sweet and is a great afternoon pick me up.
  • Enlightened Pumpkin Seed – This was one of the first 22 Days bars I had a while ago. I’ll be honest, I love pumpkin, but for me pumpkin seeds are just OK. You can taste the nuttiness of the hemp and hemp protein, too. This is not my go-to choice, but if you like pumpkin seeds, you will love the natural taste.
  • Nut Butter Buddha – Stacy and I split this bar after hot yoga one day and were very pleased to find that it had a nice chocolate coating and the inside was nutty and delicious. There is a big mix of nuts in the ingredients including walnuts, almonds, cashews and sunflower seeds. We agreed that this bar seemed like a decadent treat and the whole bar only has 230 calories! I will definitely keep these on hand for a chocolate fix! It was delicious!
  • Daily Mocha Mantra  – This bar is similar to the Nut Butter Buddha with coffee added in for flavor and a little zing. Need I say more? Another winner!
  • PB + Chocolate Chip Nirvana (20 grams of protein!) – This bar has 20 grams of protein. They say, “And so we present to you our golden-wrapped protein bar with 20g of organic raw brown rice protein and packed with the recovery benefits of a complete, and balanced amino acid profile. It’s the ultimate bar to take to the head of the pack – right where you belong.” I love peanut butter and chocolate. This bar tastes delicious and it has no dairy or soy. It tastes natural because it is! Not surprisingly, this bar is higher in calories than the others. I ate half (with a banana) before my run and half  when I got back and it did the trick for me! This is one of the best tasting protein bars I have found!
