One great thing about writing reviewing all natural, healthy products frequently on this blog is that my friends email me tons of ideas. Amanda emailed me one wintery morning to ask how our frozen lakefront run was and then said,

“I thought of you just now because I am trying this new granola (it was on sale at Jewel) and it is a.m.a.z.i.n.g. I don’t know if you’ve reviewed it before, or even if you need more things to review, but thought I would pass it along just in case! I bought both the peanut butter and the fruit and nut. Can’t put them down….”

The granola from from Erin Baker’s Wholesome Baked Goods. The funny thing was that I saw the granola on sale at Jewel that same day AND I have been eating Erin Baker’s original breakfast cookies for years. What a great idea for a review – why didnt’ I think of that? So, I emailed the company and they sent me a terrific assortment of cookies and granola to try for review.

All natural and wholesome ingredients since 1994 (and yes, that's Erin Baker!)

What are breakfast cookies? This signature product came from an idea – why can’t a cookie be made from all natural wholesome foods so that you could eat it for breakfast instead of oatmeal or similar? The Original Breakfast Cookie is baked fresh with heart-healthy whole grains and sweetened with fruit puree. The cookies taste good and have a “heartiness that satisfies for hours.” They are packed with protein, antioxidants, fiber and complex carbohydrates.

Breakfast cookies now come in a bunch of great flavors: Fruit & Nut, Chocolate Chunk Raisin, Peanut Butter, Banana Walnut, Morning Glory, Double Chocolate Chunk, Oatmeal Raisin, Mocha Cappuccino, Caramel Apple, Vegan Chocolate Chunk and Vegan Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk. They come in the original 3 oz cookies meant to be eaten as a meal replacement and in 100 calorie size for snacks. I am a big fan of Peanut Butter, Morning Glory and Vegan PB Chocolate Chunk (I love half for an afternoon snack!). I gave Sapna some of the 100 calorie ones to try and she said, “Thanks for the breakfast cookies! They were really good! I especially liked the peanut butter one. It had a great texture and was a filling little snack to tide me over with only 100 calories. The taste was really great, too!”

Erin Baker’s now makes two types of granola: Homestyle and Endurance. The homestyle granola is all natural and filled with big clusters of rolled oats and honey, premium dried fruits, nuts, all natural peanut butter and dark Belgian chocolate. The granola is loaded with whole grains and packed with Omega-3’s, antioxidants and fiber. It comes in 6 flavors: Apple Cinnamon, Double Chocolate Chunk, Fruit & Nut, Oatmeal Raisin, Peanut Butter and Vanilla Almond.

The Endurance Granola is made with ancient whole grains and up to 9 grams of protein and is “the perfect fuel for any athlete.” Endurance Granola is all natural and delicious for a breakfast or snack that can be teamed up with milk, yogurt, or eaten right out of the bag. Need another reason to give Endurance Granola a try? For every bag you purchase, a breakfast will be given to a child in need at a Boys & Girls Club, click on Healthy Start Foundation to learn more! Endurance granola comes in three flavors: Kona Crisp, Power Crunch and Tri-berry.

I was sent two flavors of granola – the homestyle Peanut Butter and Endurance Tri-berry. Amanda said of the peanut butter, “I eat it by the handful out of the bag. I am on my third bag in maybe 4 weeks? It’s gonna be a problem. But because every ingredient is “real” and recognizable, I’m having trouble stopping…” I tried it and OMG, I agree. SO delicious! That bag disappeared in a hurry! But, it is all natural and I felt OK about having some with my breakfast every day for a week! I gave Amanda the Fit Triberry to try. She said, “Now I potentially have a second problem on my hands. This granola is delicious. It is sweeter than the peanut butter (perhaps due to the juice concentrate?) but it paired beautifully with plain greek yogurt. Yum!”

I love the Breakfast Cookies to have on hand if I am on the run or for an afternoon snack and the granola is a decadent, yet healthy “treat.” You don’t have to take our word for it, the nice folks at Erin Baker’s will send a sampler pack like I got (several 3 oz cookies, several 100 calorie cookies and 2 flavors of granola) to one lucky winner! Use the Rafflecopter below to enter. The winner must be a US resident, 18 or over and the offer is void where prohibited. The prize will be fulfilled by Erin Baker’s.
