Hit the Deck, Celebrate Women at Lunafest & More!

mzl.xfyzqtsp.175x175-75If you watch Shark Tank, you may have seen FitDeck. What is FitDeck? There are several versions, so I will say that FitDecks are custom decks of playing cards that makes exercise more simple, convenient and fun. By shuffling the cards, you can “constantly create new and exciting workouts no matter what type of fitness activities you love.” With 40 different titles to choose from, you are sure to find a FitDeck that fits your lifestyle.

They say:Pregnant moms stay fit with FitDeck Prenatal, kids stay active with FitDeck Junior, twentysomethings prepare for the military with FitDeck CrossTrain, Mom stays toned with FitDeck Pilates, Dad hits the range with FitDeck Golf, and Grandma stays mobile with FitDeck Senior. FitDeck is your friend for life.” FitDeck also offers several sample workouts for free including this one for kids. Love it!

Many FitDeck titles are now available in iTunes for iPhone and iPad. Those are the most interesting to me. Maybe I can bring the phone to the gym and actually do some strength training? What a novel idea! They sent a message that said, “Don’t miss the final week of February’s Shark Tank discounts. Enjoy a 40% discount on their most popular title: FitDeck Bodyweight. Start or add to your collection now!” I think I am going to try it! You can also get the “Shark Tank Bundle” for 20% off.

I had the opportunity to attend the LunaFest premiere event in Chicago again this year and it did not disappoint! Established in 2000 by LUNA, the makers of the Whole Nutrition Bar for Women, LunaFest connects women, their stories and their causes through film. This traveling film festival “spotlights the work of a diverse array of talented women filmmakers with intelligent, funny and thought-provoking themes.

100% of LUNAFEST net proceeds benefit charity: 85% of the Chicago proceeds went to Step Up and 15% to the Breast Cancer Fund. LUNAFEST’s main beneficiary, the Breast Cancer Fund, is dedicated to eliminating the environmental causes of breast cancer.

There was also a fun event before hand that was quite lively. I was excited to see some blogger friends (Kelly, Maggie, Katie and Maureen) and non-blogger friends, too! There was wine from Clif Family Winery, Peroni beer and food from Ra Sushi and Lyfe Foods. And Luna Bars and Skinny Pop, too! Good stuff!

Here is the trailer:

I loved the short films this year. They were from 3 to 20 minutes and some were funny, some touching, some sad. I was telling Stacy about them yesterday and I mentioned almost all of the films. Some highlights for me were “Granny’s Got Game” about a 70 and over women’s basketball team, “Tiny Miny Magic” about a woman who starts exchanging gifts with her postman and “Date with Fate” a funny online dating story  – that I could almost see happening to me and the husband!

I got my ticket from Lifetime Fitness as a result of my participation as an Athleta Esprit de She Ambassador. So thank you Luna and Lifetime for an awesome and inspiring evening! I highly recommend checking out Lunafest in your area!
