Friday Finds: Online Dating For Two, #Kindawesome Hacks & More

Screen Shot 2014-02-13 at 8.33.25 PMOK, I will admit, when I saw “How About We” for Couples, I thought it was a service for married people/couples to meet other married people/couples AND I thought that was kind of strange. Well, it is. That is not at all what it is about! Phew. How About We… for Couples is a concierge service to help couples easily plan dates – at the best price and in new/innovative venues. For a small fee, couples also get one “free date” per month and other perks like discounts and free perks (like a movie ticket from Fandango). They also offer a free concierge service for special occasions. They have “collections” with themes and seasonal ideas that are “curated by local tastemakers.”

In the Valentine’s Day collection, they say, “Toss a heart-shaped pizza. Get crafty with leather. Invent gelato flavors. We’re showcasing one-of-a-kind dates to help you think outside the chocolate box this Valentine’s Day.” And then they offer you  options that seem fun and are available at a discount.

How About We for Couples is currently available in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. For $18/month, couples get one free date (I picked one that is a full dinner with drinks at a local restaurant) plus a number of available discount offers – like a movie ticket from Fandango and more. Another cool thing – for every friend you refer, they get $50 off their first date and you get a $50 credit toward your future dates. A Win-Win! Use this link for $50 off your first date (and then the husband and I get $50, too!) There are also free non-member options and the membership can be cancelled at any time.

You know I love the folks at Kind Snacks. They recently sent out a newsletter on a project they ran in January. Rather than focus on resolutions for themselves this year, they found ways to do #kindawesome things for others.

These ideas resulted in 31 #kindawesome hacks (n. acts of kindness done in clever and improvisational ways), that they posted via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram each day in January. You can download all the hacks by clicking here. Even better, you can do some of your own! Awesome.
