Guilty Pleasure Alert: Get Up and Go Caffeinated Brownie Review & Giveaway!

So, I have been giving away lots of awesome, healthy snacks, energy bars and foods lately. Don’t worry, I plan to keep at it! But, when I was contacted by Chris from Get Up and Go, I could not resist giving his caffeinated, fudgy brownie a try.

Get Up and Go was  founded in 2012 by two University of Michigan graduates. They make caffeinated baked goods such as brownies, cookies and muffins. The moist, fudgy brownies contain a natural caffeine extract. They are working on getting the goods distributed nationwide and currently sell them online. Their mission? “To simplify your morning and afternoon with innovative products that taste amazing and give you energy, but don’t cost a fortune.” The caffeine per brownie is about 200 mg (almost three espressos.) So basically, you eat and get your caffeine fix in one – it’s a two-fer (and if you forgo the coffee, you save some cash.)

The brownie is dense and chocolaty!

Interesting idea, but how does it taste? I have to be honest, I am not always a huge brownie fan. I expected to try one and give away the other two samples. Well, I ate them all! I brought one to a meeting and was planning to share it, but I cannot tell a lie, I didn’t! The brownie was dense and chocolaty. I loved the taste and texture. It was moist, but not too gooey. I definitely noticed the caffeine, so I ate these a half at a time as afternoon pick me ups. This would be too sweet for me for the morning (but they do make muffins). The brownies contain wheat and eggs, but no dairy. I think each serving has 160 calories, but each brownie is two servings. These are not huge, but one serving was definitely rich enough and caffeinated enough for me. These are definitely a nice treat and a great pick me up. I would love to have these on a road trip or during an afternoon meeting or class.
