Friday Finds: Online Memory Keeper, Get Smart with wiseGeek & Deals!

I love to remember things that happen in my days – funny, interesting or touching to me. Sometimes I write things down on scraps of paper or jot notes on my iPhone notepad. Imagine my surprise when I saw Memmee in a list of must have new apps from Daily Candy.

Screen Shot 2013-03-27 at 8.10.51 PMWhat is memmee? memmee is a “new platform for busy people who want to remember, relive, and share small moments in life that are often overlooked and forgotten.” memmee offers a private space for you to capture fleeting thoughts, moods, and everyday interactions.

What are some examples? When asked to provide examples in the FAQ section, they say “a memmee is the hysterical thing your kid said. a great lunch you had with an old friend. It can be a quick note about your mood. Or a morning ritual. Or the song that’s stuck in your head. [They] think of memmees as in-between moments — between birthdays and holidays and other highly recorded and remembered events.”

How do they facilitate good contributions and assist you in online journaling? They provide writing prompts to jot down a thought or spur on your writing. You can customize the background and styles. All notes will stay private unless you want to share them (via links or on Facebook). Your memmees will “remind you to celebrate the little things in life.” They also can be sent as little notes or reminders to others that they have made your day. I really like that idea!

Here was my first memmee:

Cool, huh? Great to jot down quick thoughts…or for those wanting to start a blog, but who are not quite ready to “open the kimono.”Screen Shot 2013-01-16 at 8.28.49 PM

I saw this tweet from Revolutionary Act and clicked over to see what 200 calories of a variety of food looked like. I dug the post on WiseGeek and think you will too!

wise geekI then became totally absorbed in WiseGeek. They have answers to hundreds of questions in over 25 main categories. There is even a Miscellaneous page with questions like: When should you not tip your waiter or Why is it bad luck to spill salt? Warning: do not click over to this site unless you have time to waste spend.
