Friday Finds: Azigo, Best of 2012 Lists & Holiday Deals

At the risk of “putting myself out of the finding business”, I share with you a new website that I saw on PureWow this week. We all love our daily deals and retailer discount emails, but sometimes seeing so much “20% off!” and “Cheap flights to Mexico!” in the in-box can be overwhelming. I have had some friends basically give up reading “deal” e-mails entirely (especially because they have me!) Alas, enter Azigo, a free new service that collects and aggregates e-commerce messages and stores them for browsing in the way that you set it up and at your convenience.

How does it work?

Upon signing up, you’re prompted to give Azigo access to any and all of the retailer offers to which you’re currently subscribed (or you can subscribe there and unsubscribe from your email.) They have a TON of companies signed up (J.Crew, Groupon, Expedia, etc.). The site then gives you your a unique Azigo email address and then promotional messages from these brands are filtered directly there. When you go to your personal email account, you’ll no longer see a TON of coupons, discounts and shopping codes. Then you can open Azigo to find a handy feed of all these offers, which you can read, respond to or delete as you see fit. If you want, Azigo can send you a weekly summary of all your waiting deals or you can go to Azigo when you are lookin for a discount or deal. If you are worried about missing an email you actually need, don’t! Transactional emails (i.e., your receipt from United Airlines or J Crew) still go to your regular in-box.

It’s a great idea. I am trying it out – I will let you know what I think!

1012_Best Of PuffinThis has been a busy year for me and I feel like I have missed out on some movies, books and new music, so I plan to check out these “Best of 2012” lists to see if I can catch up. (Read: get out from under a rock!)

> NPR’s All Music Considered Best Songs of 2012 – I am embarrassed that I have not heard ANY of these songs yet! Also check out Paste’s Best Albums of 2012 (I love that they call them ALBUMS!)
