BIG Bucket List, Lessons Learned, Summer Workout Songs & Some Deals, Too!

Do you have a bucket list? I don’t have one per say, but I like to check out other people’s lists. This list of 225 Things to Do Before You Die from the blog Life’d is way too long to digest in one sitting. Also, there are so many links in the entries that I got distracted (but I was happy to learn that I have dined at two of the top 50 restaurants in the world – in NYC #4 and skipping to the end, I have done #203. Trek on the Perito Moreno Glacier and I have read way more than 5 of Modern Library’s 100 Best Contemporary Novels(#204).) I have a lot of work to do on this list – or maybe I need to make my own.

Another kind of list – lessons learned from a life well lived: I posted a link to my husband’s grandfather’s obituary on Facebook. He was almost 99 and had a long and prosperous life. It was such a fitting tribute and one of the things that was mentioned was his belief that it is “better to be lucky than smart” (A life tenet that I mentioned on Father’s Day.) Well, he was smart, too. I was thinking about this when I saw Marc and Angel’s post 10 Timeless Lessons which was an addendum to 18 Things My Dad Was Right About. I like all of these but especially #3 “Everyone can make a huge difference. – Making one person smile can change the world. Maybe not the whole world, but their world. So start small and start now.” In the addendum, he wisely adds, “Often times it is better to be kind than to be right.” That is one to grow on!

Speaking of lists… Jen W. and I were recently talking about updating our workout playlists. Check out this list of 40 Top Workout Songs of Summer from Shape Magazine. (Warning: there are links to every song – potential time suck!!) What is on your summer playlist??

Sick of Lists? Check out these Deals:

I recently went to a chocolate and wine tasting and got 50% off at Vosges. It. Was. Awesome! Chicago friends, check out this deal at Vosges. $25 for $50 worth of chocolate at Gilt City. You will not be sorry. (Not as great for online – shipping is $$$) (Thanks to Sapna for sending!)

Daily Candy Deals is at it again! $5 off any deal with the code GETUPANDGO

There are a lot of cool deals “everywhere” (online and in cities) – I find this one intriguing $50 for $100 purchase at Of A Kind. What is Of A Kind? This online jewelry, accessories, and apparel boutique highlights a small collection of talented designers who the site’s founders are confident will be the Next Big Thing (and they have the track record to prove it). Not only will you get the scoop on each outfitter, you can get your hands on one of their pieces, sold exclusively in extremely limited editions between just five and 100 “of a kind.”

I was recently looking at a list of best sunglasses for runners and Spy Optic Parallels came up. Active Schwaggle has a great deal (40% – 50% off) on these using this link. The husband will be glad to know that I already have these for biking (and now for running!)

Last thing for today…Want to be inspired and do some good?

In case you were busy this weekend and missed my post about keeping things in perspective, you can read it here. My friend, George Gallego, is doing a full ironman triathlon and is raising $50,000 for Wheels of Progress and 501C3 organization that helps young people with spinal cord injuries to live independently. Why is George so passionate about this? He is paralyzed from the waist down from a spinal cord injury and he founded this organization. Check out my post – if you donate to George, let me know on this blog and you will be entered to win a pair of Asics Gel-1170 sneakers. I will draw a winner on Sunday, July 15th.

That’s all for now! Ciao!
